July Wednesday 21st  North Thorney island
7 p.m.  Walk to the shore east then west shore of Thorney Island and then back through fields to the pretty village of Prinsted.    Meet in the car-park on the shore by the scout hut at Prinsted.   SU766050

July Wednesday 28th  Glow worms on the slopes of Portsdown
8 p.m.   Walk up onto Portsdown and stroll along the top before we return to the start looking for glow worms.  Meet and park at the junction of Grant Road and Gillman Road in Drayton/Farlington.  SU683060

Thursday 29th July - Harvest Amble
Come along for a long walk (1000 - 1500) in the countryside as the crops are harvested.  Bring some refreshments!

August Thursday 26th   1400 Forest Side to Idsworth circular walk
 Join us for a 5 mile stroll through the woods and fields on the Sussex border.  There will be some slopes.

September Friday 10th  Explore the Prinsted and Emsworth shorelines
Walk down the shore of Nutbourne Bay to Thornham and then cross to the Emsworth shore and see what we can find before returning through the farmlands.
Meet at 1330 and park by the shore at Prinsted off the A259 west of Emsworth.   SU 766050

September 25th.  Walk the full circuit of Langstone Harbour.
Come along with Friends of Langstone Harbour for a 14 mile stroll round the harbour to see the harbour in its various guises.  Hopefully we will find some interesting wildlife along the way.  It will be possible to join us for part of the walk if you can't face 14 miles!
Meet in the car park at the southern end of the Hayling Billy Trail at 9 a.m. for the walk to the Ferry.  Coffee will be provided en route and you can buy lunch at Langstone or bring your own.

October Saturday 2nd  Explore the woods and farms around Southwick
Join us for a walk of about 5 miles north of Southwick village to see what autumn has to offer by way of wildlife.  We should be back in the village in time for pub lunches!
Meet at 1000 and park in the car-park off North Drive in Southwick village.  Su627086

Thursday 14th October - Fungi Fora
Meet at the east gate of Fort Widley at 1000 for a three hour foray in the woodlands north of Portsdown searching for mushrooms.

October Friday 29th  Fungus Foray
Join Rosemary Webb at 1400 to search the woody banks and other areas of ‘The Sling’ at Rowlands Castle for Fungus.  There are often unusual ones in this area.
Meet on the eastern end of the Green at Rowlands Castle (outside the tea rooms).  Su732106

November Saturday 20th  Find the birds of the West Thorney shore..
Join Mark Wilson at 1000 for a 3 mile wander from Emsworth down the western shore of Thorney island with good prospects of ducks and waders.
Meet at the Main Road end of Queen Street Emsworth  SU754058.  Park on the roadside or public car-parks in Emsworth or even better come by bus or train.

December Tuesday 7th  Explore Cams Bay and Fareham Creek for birds
We will walk the shoreline path to the edge of Fareham and then take the shorter road walk back to the start.  About 5 miles all on good flat paths.

WORK PARTIES

Every Wednesday and also 3rd Sundays: Portsdown Hill Conservation Volunteers work on the hill somewhere.  meet at Fort Widley (East Gate) at 1000 for a good day's work with friends.  Tools, gloves and hot drinks provided.  Bring lunch. Info from Richard Jones 023 9238 9623.
